I’m very excited about what 2017 has in store. While I’ve already written about some of the races I’m looking forward to this year, I’ve only mentioned in passing the three organizations that I’m proudly representing. So, without further ado, let me tell you about my 2017 Ambassadorship Trifecta – West Van Run, BibRave, and Run Laughlin! (more…)

Running 2017

We’re a week into 2017, and I’m still getting my bearings a bit. I was back to work on January 2, and I’ve been trying to stick to one of my goals of getting up at the same time (6am) every day. This has been mostly successful, but I’m tired. Yes, I know, 6am isn’t early for a lot of you folks out there…but trust me, I’m not a morning person!

While I haven’t fleshed out entirely what’s happening this year, I’ve got a pretty good handle on running plans for the first half of 2017. Last year was a pretty prolific year of running. I don’t anticipate doing quite the same volume of races, but I want to hit my target of 2,017 kilometres.

Rather than outlining everything I’ve got planned, here are a few of my highlights for Running 2017: (more…)

When I got home today from a long, rainy run – I realized that the only part of me that wasn’t completely drenched was my underwear. And that, my friends, is just one reason why Aerodaks is a new favourite piece of running gear!

But, you may be wondering, What is Aerodaks? I’m glad you asked!

Last year, I ran the inaugural Laughlin/Bullhead Half Marathon, which happened to fall on my birthday. It was an awesome birthday celebration, and a great vacation to boot!

Runsip

Have you ever been in a race, and you slow down at the aid station to grab some hydration…and it all goes horribly wrong? The water sloshes all over your hands (maybe soaking your gloves), you try treating it like a shooter and choke on the drink, or it’s a sports drink that ends up making you sticky for the rest of the race. No? Come on…you know it’s happened. It has to me, anyway!

Enter a creative solution to your mid-race hydration challenges – Runsip!

As a runner, I go through a lot of gear – sweaty t-shirts and hats, shorts and underwear – and it all ends up in the laundry basket. And on those days where I mix in a yoga class or gym workout, I end up with even more dirty clothes. Because we have shared laundry facilities in our very-conveniently-located-downtown-but-amenity-sparse condo building, and because every load costs money, it tends to pile up. And even though I try to air it out, it still stinks.

I’ve also discovered that some technical gear, much beloved and full of memories, tends to retain a certain ‘scent’ even after washing. My better half has commented on this on more than one occasion. Is there a solution?

Original BUFF®

Since receiving my first BUFF® product, I’ve been a huge fan. I’ve done a couple of reviews before:

When I got the opportunity to test the Original BUFF® – and to select my own design – I was thrilled! Honestly, you can’t have too many BUFF® products! I chose the pattern called MOTION because I felt the colour palette would go well with my own!

Original BUFF®

We’ve learned that BUFF® products are extremely versatile, but of course I have my favourite styles and uses, and pretty much stick with them. But since the packaging promotes “more than 12+ ways to wear”, I thought I’d give it a go and try them out!

Original BUFF®

Here are some of the ways to wear the Original BUFF® – and my perspective on them!
