North Olympic Discovery Marathon

With just one week to go until the North Olympic Discovery Marathon, I’m trying to get my thoughts (and training) together before the big day. This will be my first race representing BibRave in 2017, so I’m pretty stoked! And although it’s not my first international race of the year (since I ran in Japan back in March), it’ll be my first US race since last year’s North County Wine Run.

I’ve already blogged about all the reasons why you should run the North Olympic Discovery Marathon, but I wanted to recap some of my training and final preparation for the race. Keep in mind that I’m running the half marathon at NODM, and not the full!

Although the April showers are incessant, the truth is that June is not that far away. Bring on the summer! And with it, my first US race of 2017 – the North Olympic Discovery Marathon! OK, the truth is I’ll be running the half marathon rather than the full, but NODM is a better acronym than NODHM, right? This will also be my first BibRave race of the year – and I’m so excited because I’m going to have the chance to meet some of my fellow BibRave Pros while I’m there!

Running 2017

We’re a week into 2017, and I’m still getting my bearings a bit. I was back to work on January 2, and I’ve been trying to stick to one of my goals of getting up at the same time (6am) every day. This has been mostly successful, but I’m tired. Yes, I know, 6am isn’t early for a lot of you folks out there…but trust me, I’m not a morning person!

While I haven’t fleshed out entirely what’s happening this year, I’ve got a pretty good handle on running plans for the first half of 2017. Last year was a pretty prolific year of running. I don’t anticipate doing quite the same volume of races, but I want to hit my target of 2,017 kilometres.
